Definition of cookies

Cookies are small (text) files that contain information about browsing history. These files are stored on your device (computer, mobile phone, tablet, etc.) when you visit a website. You do not have to accept the cookie bar every time, because the website will remember your contact details and, for example, which blogs you have already read.

Why do we place cookies?

The reason we place cookies differs per type of cookie. At dehaanlaw.nl We use three types of cookies:

Functional cookies

Functional cookies are necessary for a website to operate. For example, a webshop will place a cookie in order to remember what you put in your shopping cart. This way, you don’t have to indicate this every time. We do not need permission to place functional cookies because the website cannot function without them.

Analytical cookies

Analytical cookies have the aim to determine and track user behavior on a website. At dehaanlaw.nl, we use this information to gain insight into how our website is used. This information is anonymized and therefore has little effect on your privacy.

We use Google Analytics to place these cookies. The Dutch Data Protection Authority has published a “Manual for privacy-friendly setting of Google Analytics”. We’ve used this manual to set up our Google Analytics. This means part of your IP address has been hidden and the analytical data is not shared with Google. With this, we ensure that the analytical cookies have very little effect on your privacy. We ask you for permission to place these cookies.

You can also make a so-called opt-out statement with Google.

When you perform actions on our website, this unique ID is sent along so that it can be tracked per user which actions they perform on our site. This allows us to keep track of how many people visit our site and how they use our site for two years

_gat_UA-XXXXXXX-X This cookie is used to limit the number of requests to Google Analytics Browser session

_gid This cookie is used to group the individual actions stored by the _ga cookie to create a customer journey. one day

_hjid By means of this cookie, a unique ID (unique for both the browser and website) is linked to you. This allows Hotjar to link the data of each visit to our page with previous visits. a year

_hjRecordingLastActivity

This cookie is updated when a visitor recording starts and when data is sent through the WebSocket (the visitor performs an action that records Hotjar). Browser session

_hjTLDTest

This cookie is used to determine the most effective way of storing the other cookies. Browser session

hjLocalStorageTest This cookie is used to check whether the local storage can be used by Hotjar. Less than 100 ms

_hjAbsoluteSessionInProgress Saves your first page you visit. Thirty minutes

_hjIncludedInSample This cookie is set if you start your session from the start of a funnel (this is a special path that can be set in Hotjar). Browser session

Tracking cookies

At dehaanlaw.nl, we also use tracking cookies. These cookies keep track of individual surfing behavior. Tracking cookies allow us to see the interests of our users. We can use this to approach our users for services offered by us specifically. We ask you for permission to place these cookies.

Do you have to agree with the placing of cookies?

No, you do not have to. When you pay a first visit to our website, you can choose whether you agree with our cookie statement or not. If you do not agree, our website will still be accessible.

You can also withdraw your consent. You can do this by deleting your cookies. The next time you will visit our website, you can indicate whether you wish to agree to the placing of cookies again.
